Spring is typically our busiest market, and when Sellers get the most money for their home. Homes show thier best, and buyers are eager to close just in time for summer. Over the last few months number of sales have gone up with the temperatures, although compared to last year, statistics show sales are down 11% overall. The lack of inventory has proven to be good news for Sellers in the Durham region: we have experienced many multiple offer scenerios and the average sale price continues to increase, especially for homes priced under $300,000.
Will this last? We predict a leveling out of the market over the next year: the steadying of prices, and the opportunity for buyers (especially first-time buyers) to purchase with less competitors.
